Geometry Dash Review: Rhythm Platformer Game

Geometry Dash is a rhythm-based platformer that features lots of colorful levels with all kinds of bright obstacles for you to avoid. Download Geometry Dash and test your skills.

Graphics 3/5

Geometry Dash employs a simple visual style to create colorful levels with all kinds of objects and special effects. Everything moves, spins, shines, and glows – but most of the objects look kind of cheap and schematic, spoiling the overall impression. The game is disappointing visually since it looks like an outdated flash game. However, this simplistic visual style prevents you from getting distracted from the hardcore gameplay itself, allowing you to stay more alert.

Gameplay 5/5

The Geometry Dash gameplay concept is rather simple. Basically, the game is a rhythm-based hardcore platformer that requires pure skills as well as a good sense of rhythm. Timing is everything in this game since obstacles are placed around the levels according to the soundtrack. That means you can just focus on the music, relax and let your ears guide you instead of eyes. Of course, each level has its own music score, so it doesn’t get boring or too repetitive.

However, this Geometry Dash platformer game requires much more than just your ability to listen. The game is really difficult, and while the controls are simple, the levels have so many different obstacles in different combinations that you’re going to die again and again. This can be a little frustrating, but that seems to be the point of the entire game – improving your skills requires a lot of time, and you can feel that sense of accomplishment once you complete an especially tricky level.

Controls 5/5

Platformers seem to rely heavily on controls quality, and this Geometry Dash PC version does, too. It’s incredibly important to have responsive controls when your victory depends on precise timing. And the full Geometry Dash game is great in that sense: your cubical avatar moves exactly where you want it to be, and you can really focus on improving your skills instead of fighting with controls. There’s enough frustration for you in the game, and there’s no need to make things even harder.

Replay Value 5/5

The game is literally endless. There are lots of built-in levels, even more user-made challenges – and if that’s not enough, you can always build your own insane dungeon. That means you can play it for years, so be wary not to become addicted to it.

The Bottom Line

Geometry Dash is fast-paced and borderline addictive, so it’s a great way to spend a couple of hours on jumping around. Download Geometry Dash and use your sense of rhythm to the fullest.
